Biography

András Lukács was born in 1977, in Budapest. The Hungarian choreographer received his dance education at the Hungarian Dance Academy which led to a scholarship at the Elmhurst Ballet School in England.

He started his professional dance career at the Hungarian National Ballet and after then, was invited by William Forsythe to join the Frankfurt Ballet. His future engagements led him to work with the Ballet de l’Opéra de Lyon and the Vienna State Opera under the direction of Gyula Harangozó and his successor, Manuel Legris.

He made his first choreographic debut as a part of the Young Choreographers` Evening with the National Ballet in Budapest. Since then, he created pieces, among others, for the Vienna State Opera, the Volksoper Wien, the Hungarian National Ballet as well as for the National Ballet of Győr, where since 2020 he  is also  the company`s artistic director.

His artistic style is characterised by pure lines, aesthetic simplicity and sophisticated elegancy.
