András Lukács was born in 1977, in Budapest. The Hungarian choreographer received his dance education at the Hungarian Dance Academy which led to a scholarship at the Elmhurst Ballet School in England. He started his professional dance career at the Hungarian National Ballet and after then, was invited by William Forsythe to join the Frankfurt Ballet. His future engagements led him to work with the Ballet de l’Opéra de Lyon and the Vienna State Opera.
He made his first choreographic debut as a part of the “Young Choreographers` Evening” with the National Ballet in Budapest. Since then, he created pieces for the Vienna State Opera, the Volksoper Wien, the Hungarian National Ballet and the National Ballet of Győr. His artistic style is characterised by pure lines, aesthetic simplicity and sophisticated elegancy.
